Let's talk dough, shall we? It's not very often I whip out a delectable delight such as these fiendishly sinful cookies, but when I do... I do it right. With my parents coming up to visit tomorrow I thought I'd play Holly Homemaker and whip up a batch of cookies. But not just any cookies - cookies with pretzel pieces and little caramel chocolate nuggets inside. Intrigued? Thought you might be...

So I've been hankering to try this 'Ben's Cookies'-esque recipe that Anna wrote about on her blog around a month ago, but I've never really had a reason to whip up a batch of cookies (I know, I hear you, 'who needs a reason?!'). But since Mum and Dad are popping up to little old Casa del Guilty Girl to -ehem- assist with some spring cleaning, I thought now would be the perfect time to ply them with sweet treats. Love you guys.

For the full recipe check the link above, but I did make a few alterations. I didn't want a chocolate cookie as I felt that it could be overpowering with super-sweet caramel chunks, so I substituted cocoa powder with 2tsps of vanilla essence for a nice clean cookie dough base to start with. As Anna says on her blog, once you have the dough, the fillings are pretty much to your own taste. Having tasted the glory that is a Ben's cookie before, I knew these cookies are gooey-central, so alongside my Cadbury's Caramel Nibbles I opted for a little crunch - namely some Penn State Pretzel pieces with a generous dash of sea salt.
