Every so often a product will come along that I just cannot stop raving about - blog posts, videos, casual mentions to friends, not-so-casual insistence to friends - I can't shut up. And these Maybelline ColorSensational Shine Gloss (£6.19) lip glosses have taken over that place in my heart this past month since I first picked up the shade Glorious Grapefruit in my spring haul earlier this month. Cashmere Rose very shortly followed it, and since then I've been eyeing up the full colour range on every visit to Boots/Superdrugs around (Electric Orange might be next on the list, FYI)

The reason isn't that I'm filled with glee at the prospect of a glossy lip - quite the opposite actually. I was a matte lip girl through-and-through until these babies came into my life. Long gone are the days of a sticky, overly shiny, glittery gloss (hello childhood) - these lip glosses are sophisticated. The most accurate thing I can think to say is these are more of a lip cream - soft, moisturizing, easy to work with and not gloopy or sticky in the slightest. The pigmentation is excellent, and they look just as great alone as they do layered over a lip colour of your choosing. My personal fave? Revlon Colourburst Matte Lip Balm in Complex underneath either Glorious Grapefruit or Cashmere Rose. Perrrrrfect day-to-day lip lovin'.

So, let's hope now that this blog post is going out into the universe, the obsession will calm. I think it peaked at #OxMeet when I literally passed this around the table of lovely lady bloggers, like I was at show and tell at school. Casual.

Have you tried the Maybelline lip glosses? What did you think? What colours do I need to try next?

  8. Ooo I have to say I am definitely a matte girl, to be honest I have to say I'm a little scared of lipgloss, but these sound lovely and they're not too expensive so I think I'll definitely have to try them out *adding to the shopping list*.

  11. I'm not usually a gloss girl like the majority it seems, but these sound very promising! Will definitely check them out when they launch locally (in a year's time no doubt).
