So a few weeks back, the boyfriend and I made the 4 1/2 hour trek (whimpers) up North to spend Easter weekend with his family. It was awesome - long, relaxed dog walks, countryside, lots of laughs and entirely too much good food. But when you're spending just under 72 hours somewhere, and most of them sweaty and outdoors, you don't want to be carting a make up wardrobe around with you. In fact, I managed to fit everything I carried, laptop, clothes and all, into my Le Pliage tote (God bless this bag for reals).

Needless to say, the beauty bag was more of a beauty purse. Only the cream of the crop made the journey. So - Diorskin Nude BB Creme in 002 was an obvious choice. I've been loving this like no other lately and it's so good, I can slap it on with fingers and blend away (albeit quickly) without having a care in the world. I did have a little bit of a care though, because the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush somehow skipped into the mix. Aaah, this brush. Where was I before this brush? I've never been a 'paint on your foundation' kinda girl, I prefer to do the 'blend and blend, hope you get the natural look' dance. That brush just gets me, man. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla is more or less holy grail status for me now - it even makes it into my gym bag. I'm considering duplicate purchases so I can have it everywhere/never worry about running out but I'm not sure I'm that extravagant. I set that with the Real Techniques Contour Brush because it sits beautifully into the eye socket and I'm a rebel that way. Naked Basics makes the cut every time with the Eco Tools Angled Brush as 'Faint' is my brow shade.

Colour-wise, I was sitting pretty in my 'neutrals 4 lyyyyfe' mood with the Maybelline Mono Shadow in Iced Fudge. This as a one-wash shade, blended out over the eye? Perfect. Definition and a hint of something without any of the fuss. The MAC 217 was clearly the only man for this job. A coat of my beloved Kevyn Aucoin Essential Mascara and I'm good to go. Blush was brought to the table by a touch (and literally a touch) of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy, applied with the Eco Tools Blusher Brush. I love this for a pinched, healthy glow to the skin - looks great with the tan I clearly did not have that weekend. And for the lips? A slick of Cashmere Rose from the Maybelline Colour Sensational gloss range. Beauty in around 5 minutes = more time for Easter eggs. And that's maths EVERYBODY likes.
