Oh, Heathrow Terminal 3, the things you do to me. And my bank balance. I had been wanting a Jo Malone fragrance of my *very own* for quite a while now, and after smelling some being passed around (yeah, we were at group) at #OxMeet, I'd finally decided it was time to indulge. Luckily, with flying out to America around the corner, I knew I'd be able to pick it up from inside my terminal with duty free, so I opted for that.

I was served by Kris at Heathrow Terminal 3, who was absolutely lovely and so helpful and knowledgeable about the products that I felt like I was in safe hands! Although I already kind of had an inkling about the scents I would like, I was completely overwhelmed by the choice when I reached the shop - I had about four little 'tester' strips of paper when Kris came over and rescued me! I explained that I'd narrowed my choice down to three - Blackberry and Bay, Nectarine and Honey Blossom and Pomegranate Noir. I wanted something special as my 'New York' scent that would take me back to this holiday and time in my life. Kris told me to spray my top two on each wrist and let the scent settle for a bit, as each perfume really interacts with your skin over the first ten minutes of wear, and this is what creates the bespoke scents that Jo Malone are really known for.

Taking her good advice, I found that between Nectarine and Honey Blossom and Pomegranate Noir, the latter just worked better on my skin. It was spicy, subtle, feminine and fruity, and the boyfriend loved it, which is always a plus!

I just want to emphasize how great the service I received was - Kris really painstakingly packaged my perfume so beautifully, she sprayed another perfume she thought I might like (their Dark Amber cologne) on the tissue paper inside my bag, and sneakily (such a lovely touch!) gave me two sample bottles of Blackberry and Bay and Nectarine and Honey Blossom and taught me a little about their fragrance layering principles. I'm so in love with this brand and their products, I don't think it'll be too long before I head back for another full-size purchase!

Thanks again to Kris, and to Jo Malone - I'll never forget my first experience!

I picked up the travel size of Pomegranate Noir for £31 (duty free price) but it's available direct from Jo Malone here for £39.

  1. Wow, Kris sounds like such a lovely gal! It's chickas like that who restore faith in sales assistants! Whenever I see Jo Malone, I'm absolutely overwhelmed with how many scents they have. The few that I have smelled are absolutely divine, one is definitely on my wishlist!
