I decided that the only thing to do with a lip product addiction this note-worthy was to, well, note it. July has been dubbed the 'lippie month', and I'm making a conscious effort to wear a different shade every day for the whole 31 days of this month. When I got chit-chatting about my plan to the beautiful Jaye (we have a constant What'sApp conversation happening - it's a drug of its own now), she thought it sounded fun and awesomely decided to join in too, so make sure you're following all things Bed In The Kitchen this month, too!

The idea was inspired by the 'Lipstick Challenge' feature on the amazing Cup of Jo's blog - her beautiful intern wore a different lipstick every day of the week and reported her findings. If you'd like a far prettier (srsly, is the girl Katie Holmes or something?!) look into some lip goodness, click on through... Otherwise, let's crack on with our first week!

July 1st: Kicking things off with a little Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon - this is more or less a staple 'easy red' for me - because of the formula I don't need to worry too much about maintenance or application, and I wanted to start the month off with a red because a ruby is July's (and so my) birthstone! This colour is really juicy and again, super easy to wear.
July 2nd: Amping things up with a little Maybelline The Elixir in Fuschia Flash - this is a hot hot! glossy pink, and is sexy as hell for a little confidence boost. My boyfriend noticed this when he walked in and said I looked 'very nice'. Work mates commented on how pretty the colour was as well. Definitely an attention grabber!
July 3rd: After all that bold lip action, I wanted something understated. Enter the Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade. This is the prettiest, sheerest baby pink and sits so naturally on my lips, giving them an almost frosted look. Also works wonders for making them all ripe and plump and juicy looking, which yknow. I'm down with that.
July 4th: Revlon Colourburst Matte Lip Balm in Elusive is dreamy. Feminine, understated but just pink enough to pack a punch, I love this colour. It feels sophisticated and flirty at the same time. The formula of these is super easy to wear, doesn't overly dry the lips and doesn't lead to any kind of cracking or flaking (the dreaded flake!!). Heavenly.
July 5th: It was time for some more punch in my life, in the form of another Elixir, this time in Mandarin Rapture. Truth be told, I just love this orange shade with that white and blue striped top. So sassy. Reminds me of my time in New York. Long sigh. Boyfriend was digging this look as well, so two thumbs up!
July 6th: A pre-birthday respite in the form of Revlon Colourburst Lacquer Balm in Demure. This is a 90s-ass shade. It's that kind of brown, glossy, tawny-ness that makes me think I could be Kate Moss on the cover of iD. PAHAHA. In my dreams. Maybe that was what the flower crown was all about (it wasn't, I'd been at a carnival all day).
July 7th: I know you didn't think I was going to do anything other than a big bold red for my birthday. I had mentioned in my Sephora haul that I was waiting for an occasion special enough to wear the Bite Beauty Lip Cream in Rioja. Well, this was it. And it didn't disappoint in terms of pigment or application - super easy to work with, beautifully pigmented, but this stayed really wet and didn't ever really 'set' on the lips, which was annoying. It definitely did NOT pass the burger test. So now I know, this isn't one to wear through heavy-lip-usage! It's still just so pretty though, isn't it?

What do you guys think about the Lipstick challenge? Is this something you'd do? I've really enjoyed it so far!

  4. I don't own any Revlon Lipbutters *shields face from looks of shock and disbelief*
I've put off trying them since for the longest time, I wasn't into sheer lipsticks. However, Wild Watermelon looks so gorgeous on you! Slightly tempted now :P x
