For me, a birthday is a 'pull-out-all-the-stops' occasion and yes, the make up you see above is my version of that. I wanted something tried and tested, classic, big impact but minimum effort, so what made the cut? A simple defined crease with a soft cat-eye flick, a taupey contour-blush shade, porcelain skin and THAT red lip. Review to follow, but let me reassure you that the Bite Beauty Lip Cream is beauuuuuuutiful.

I started out with a reliable, no flashback base of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation in 051 Vanille, which is a touch too light for me right now but blended in gives that really porcelain, almost Dita Von Teese like skin I wanted. I powdered this lightly with my beloved, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. Concealing any undereye darkness or little blemishes was the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, which is a lovely match for the Healthy Mix foundation. Next up, I wanted a blush that was going to work as a bit of a defining contour as well as bringing some life to my cheeks, and only one pick was up to the job - take the stage, Tarte Amazonian clay longest-name-ever blush in Exposed. I love this tawny shade and I knew the brown/taupe undertones wouldn't interfere with the bright red lip, which I really wanted to take center stage. The words I have for Bite beauty products won't fit here, so I'll just say this - Rioja was the perfect birthday red. On my eyes, so as not to distract from the bold lip, I kept to the Naked Basics palette, blending W.O.S. all over the lid before doing some crease definition with Naked 2. I did a little feline flick with the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner and defined my brows with the Revlon Brow Fantasy in Brunette.

What do you think of this birthday look? Do you like wearing a strong make up look on your birthday, or do you prefer to keep it natural?

  1. So pretty! I actually had school on my birthday, so I kept it pretty simple with my regular eyeliner routine. But two nights before my birthday was prom, so of course I went all out for that one ;)
