I thought today I'd switch things up on The Guilty Girl and do a little more of a 'personal' type post, inspired by the amazing Rosie. I'm sure you already are familiar with Rosie's absolutely beautiful lifestyle blog, Cider With Rosie, but if not, please do go and visit her. Her posts are always compelling, her writing reads like a familiar and much-loved novel, and her photography is so wistful and picturesque I want to move into her world every time I visit! One of my most favourite reads on her gorgeous blog is her '10 Things That Have Made Me Happy' weekly series, which she posts on a Friday. I look forward to these every week and, since Mondays are usually painful enough, I decided to try taking a stab at my own version of this post to start the week off with a little gratitude. Can't hurt, right?
  1. Time with my family. My mum and dad live overseas and, as such, I often feel like part of myself is always missing, longing to be at home with them. They might drive me up the wall but my parents are my best friends. Please treasure time with your loved ones if you're lucky enough to live close by.
  2. Visiting Brighton, Worthing and the seaside. The smell of salt in the air made me feel at home again.
  3. A delicious breakfast at Iydea (go, now!) of lemon curd on an English muffin, peanut butter and banana on rye, and a chai latte, shared with my gorgeous mum. She really is the best.
  4. 'Out of office'. Being able to sing Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me' at the top of my lungs makes the most stressful week I've ever faced at work a little more bearable.
  5. Slipping on a pair of jeans in Whistles and feeling like they were made for me. And walking out of the store with them, of course.
  6. Pantone shade 337, my favourite colour in the world, which is apparently the shade of toothpaste, scrubs, birds eggs and sugared almonds.
  7. Visiting the new town J and I are moving to next month, and seeing my parents' faces light up as they wandered around. Feeling like a 'real grown up' as a result of this.
  8. The chill in the air of an evening, and leather jacket weather returning. I love summer, but is it wrong to delight in the first hints of autumn so much?
  9. Watching my dad fulfill a dream and being so disgustingly proud. I don't think he will ever stop being my hero.
  10. A long Sunday walk around the grounds of the entirely breathtaking Blenheim Palace with the ones I love, and sneaking through secret passages pointed out to us by the locals in Woodstock.
  11. ... A sneaky one! But how could I not include this? Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway ;)
What has made you happy lately? Are you having a good August? Would you like to see more personal posts on TGG?

  2. I think it's important to cherish the things that make you happy no matter how big or small! And I find spending time with my family kind of refreshes me a bit, you know? I feel like I could take the world on!
I wish the transition from Summer to Autumn was a bit more noticeable here in San Diego - it only cools down a touch - but when I lived in New England I loved when it got cooler and you could pull out all your favorite knits and coats again!
    And congrats! That's a major accomplishment! :)
