I mentioned in my haircare routine post a little while back that I'd been testing and trialling this kit out after using a Space NK Ncentive to knock down the cost. This little travel-friendly kit is priced at £19.50 and, with all the good experience I had had with Bumble and bumble in the past, I was prepared to love it. As you can probably tell at this point, this wasn't exactly how things worked out...

The first time I used the shampoo and conditioner, one clump of my hair was left really oily the next day - thick and heavy with product, like I hadn't rinsed the shampoo out properly. I assumed it was my bad and that I'd been a little careless, so the next wash I made sure to be thorough and sparing with the product. This time was a little better, but by day two or three I had the same clump of hair, the same heavy, oily feeling, and it was annoying. On the plus side, the shampoo had taken any brassiness out of the blonde balayage in my hair and had brought the colour down to a much more desirable, natural ashy tone. It also made my hair soft and renewed, which I like. Sadly, none of this was really enough to make me put up with the clump of doom.

As a result of all the oil build up, I didn't really use the conditioner, and having paired it with a different shampoo (Dove NutriOil), I'm pretty sure this does much the same thing as the shampoo and leaves me with oily heavy patches of hair. It's so irritating! I really wanted to get along with this and I just... couldn't. Perhaps it's the length and texture of my hair (collarbone, thick), but I just could not get the clarifying properties I needed out of this shampoo. I had hoped for a hydrating shampoo that still got rid of product build-up (something like the L'Oreal Ever Riche) but this was not the one for me. Sob.

The primer? Well, it's tough to tell. It can disperse a little thick and clumpy (are you sensing a theme?) but if you get it far enough away from your hair, I'm sure it would do a fine job. I just plump for other products that do what I need them to with less hassle, unfortunately. Oh Hairdresser's Invisible Oil, we hardly knew ye.

It's a firm miss from me, but I would be SO interested to know if anyone has used these products and really gotten on well with them? Leave me a comment!

  1. That's so unfortunate! I've usually only heard good things about Bumble and Bumble! :(

    1. I've always had great experiences too, Meggan! Think that's what made this one so disappointing :( T xx

  2. That IS unfortunate - I actually LOVE this range, it works really well on my poor old damaged, bleached hair. I think that it's a very rich range - when I did the training for it, we were told it was definitely aimed at people with very dry or stressed hair so maybe it was too rich for yours? I'm not sure. I also like it because it's sulphate free which is good for my sonofabitch scalp and also good for coloured hair, and the primer has UV defense ingredients in it which is also good for colour treated hair :)
