August feels like a breath of fresh air after a little bit of a washout at the end of July - could we have our summer back now? I'm invigorated to get stuck in to this month, which involves mostly family plans and a lot of self-restoration. I've been having a bit of a difficult time in the background here and after a much-needed blogging break last week (yay! I feel so much better!) and a long chat with my mum, I've decided August is the month the tide turns. It's time to start betting on myself again and rooting for the home side. August, I welcome you with open arms. Let's get started.

SEE: Last month I watched Ballet 422 and it was one of the most beautiful, inspiring movies I've ever seen. I felt so creatively full and awakened after! Whilst I don't dance ballet and haven't since I was a very little girl, I used to go fairly regularly with my mum and watching those dances and the way the dancers connect to the music still gives me goosebumps. I am absolutely in awe of Justin Peck and am longing for another trip to NYC to watch the City Ballet (literally any excuse, really).

LISTEN: My month has been owned by anticipation for The Weeknd's new album, Beauty Behind The Madness. I'm sure you've all heard Can't Feel My Face by now, but for me the hero is still The Hills. PLEASE HURRY WITH YOUR PRECIOUS BABY-MAKING MUSIC ABEL, THE WORLD NEEDS IT.

GO: Offline. I took a break from almost everything over a long weekend with my family at the end of July and it was... blissful. It felt so liberating not to be scheduling social media posts or looking at blog content or worrying about taking pictures - I can't recommend it enough. It has kinda made me think I want at least one internet/social media-free weekend a month. Can that be a thing?

EAT: Five Guys. Has everyone been secretly on this bandwagon without me because HOLY MOLEY. This is GOOD. We stopped by their Covent Garden branch after seeing The Elephant Man on my birthday (homg so good) and it was THE BEST FAST FOOD EVER?! I think I might even like it more than my beloved Shake Shack. Don't tell.

DRINK: Discovered a love for peach juice in Barcelona. Discovered, around a day after returning from holidays, that they sell said peach juice at a cafe right next to my office. Remained happy for eternity.

WEAR: I picked up this kimono from Topshop last month and I'm pretty obsessed with it. It just brings this really effortless bohemian, feminine thing to whatever outfit I'm wearing, which I'm not about to argue with.

READ: The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I received this for my birthday and, whilst I'm only a little ways in, I can already tell it's going to be a favourite. As it's set in Amsterdam, however, it is really not helping with my Scandi-obsession.

THINK: Renew. It's time to be kinder to myself, and put myself back onto a path that I'm in control of, happy with, and is leading me towards my goals. Sometimes you can build an idea of yourself and what you're doing that is so convincing even you believe it, no matter how far you stray from it. This month, I'm pressing restart and taking myself back to basics.

  1. Just wanted to say hi, and that I enjoyed reading this post! It's always interesting to me to know what's going on "behind the scenes" in the real lives of bloggers/Youtubers I follow. I admit, I'm totally into burgers and fries lately too. In Southern California we've had a real revival of midprice burger joints, so it's fun to see creative and slightly "gourmet" versions of this fast food :)

I'm glad July is over too. A fresh page for August! cheers :)

    1. Aww thanks so much Quinn! This really means a lot. Although, now I am TOTALLY jealous of your SoCal burger joints - my stomach is grumbling at the thought! You'll have to post about them so we can all drool :) I miss your posts! I hope all's well and thanks so much again for reading and commenting. T xx
