I know, I know, I only just posted an Updated Perfume Collection on the blog and being fair to me - that was my complete collection until very recently. But if you get gifted Jo Malone, you don't turn it down in the name of minimalism, do you?

Peony and Blush Suede is a fragrance from the Jo Malone collection that had always intrigued me - a blogger favourite, this one had never really appealed to me by name, but after smelling it at a counter in Dubai when my mum and I were doing a little window shopping, I fell in love.

I'm not usually one for very sweet, floral, girly scents at all, but this is in a class of its own - sweet, juicy apple paired with the rose and honey accents of peony, on top of a bubbly, lightness that I can only really compare to champagne - it seems to effervesce on the skin. Rather than being thick and sickly, this is a sophisticated, complex scent that I love for pairing - it works particularly well with Wood Sage and Sea Salt, another firm fave of mine. I'd say this is definitely a spring/summer fragrance, but I'm enjoying it in these early stages of autumn as an unexpected lift to colder days.

Whilst a lot of Jo Malone's perfumes can be worn by either sex (one of the things I like most about the brand), this one feels decidedly and unapologetically feminine - something I definitely can come to appreciate after days of wearing some of the woodier colognes on offer!

I'd definitely recommend this - think summer parties on lawns and morning coffees with friends. It is also such a great date fragrance if you want the excuse to feel pretty, feminine and pampered. It lingers just enough to give an enticing hint of sweetness but there's nothing overpowering about it at all. You've done it again, Jo.

  1. This one is definitely next on my list! I am currently using the Blue Agave & Cocoa or the Rock Of Age Tudor Rose & Amber one. They are both very different but oh so pretty!

  2. I have both Peony & Blush Suede, and Wood Sage & Sea Salt to pair the two together. Such a good combination! I'm loving Jo Malone and I definitely want to get more now! xx

  3. I absolutely adore Peony & Blush Suede! Great taste as always, girl. Blackberry & Bay was the first Jo Malone cologne to steal my heart, so I always knew Peony & Blush Suede would be my second foray into the brand. It definitely is very sweet and girly, but not in the way you'd typically expect from your more commercial fragrances. It's a little more refined and sophisticated, though it does remind me of the icy poles I used to eat as a kid, which is one of the reasons why I love it so much! The next cologne I want to pick up is the Amber & Patchouli Cologne Intense, which is almost the complete opposite. Really dark, sensual and deep - a great one for the colder weather! Being intense, it's almost double the price of the regular colognes, but one day it'll be mine!

  4. Ah, I need to get my hands on a Jo Malone! They sounds fabulous.
