Aah June. How are you here already? How are we halfway through the year, and it's grey and pissing down rain outside, and I feel like I have only just about started what I intended for 2016? June has always signified the beginning of good times for me - it's the month that summer officially begins, it's usually a month before I see my parents in England, it's the month before my birthday (!!) and just generally makes me quite happy with its mere existence. This one is looking to be worthy of the name, with plans for weekends away with friends, time away to knuckle down at work, some much-needed days at home and a couple of date nights scheduled in. Let's crack on, June, but please, can we have some sunshine around about now?
SEE: James and I have a date night coming up at the movies and I'm pulling for The Nice Guys to be our pick - not just because Ryan Gosling but I mean... Ryan Gosling. But this looks hilarious! And I'm a big fan of 70s vibes and ridiculous facial hair. Ticking all the boxes for me.
LISTEN: Can we talk about Bon Iver and James Blake for a second and how perfect I Need A Forest Fire is? I do hear 'an avocado' every time I listen to it though... Just me?
GO: To Ireland. Quickly. Seriously, we visited Dublin last week and I honestly don't know how I've gone so long without going to this magical, amazing, loveable place. Everyone was so kind, so hilarious, there was music pouring out of every pub you went past and watching our friends get married there is something that will stay with me forever. It was just one of the most incredible mini breaks ever.
EAT: I recently picked up some Graze individual snack boxes from Boots and I gotta say, these things are freaking genius. Perfectly snack sized and calorie controlled as well as being completely DELICIOUS, I am all for this. Try the salted pretzel sticks and cocoa and hazelnut dip. Like a grown up Choc Dip.
DRINK: Belvoir Raspberry Lemonade and prosecco cocktails - I don't know where my friend Chesca dreamt up this combo, but it is heavenly and I love it very much.
WEAR: This dress. Everywhere. I bought it for my friend's wedding and I don't think I ever want to wear anything else for all my pretty, fancy occasional needs.
READ: I'm so desperate to pick up the paperback version of Big Magic it's untrue - has anyone read this? Will anyone lend it to me? ENABLE ME. DO I NEED THE HARDBACK BECAUSE I JUST CAN'T TAKE THE WAITING ANYMORE?!
THINK: All is well. This has turned into a little mantra for me towards the end of May as I've been suffering with anxiety again for the first time in a little while, so sometimes I just have to repeat those three words to myself, just as a reminder. We can all need to touch base and keep in check with ourselves sometimes, so it's useful to have that way of grounding yourself, I find.

  1. Mmmm, that cocktail sounds good, and I loved Big Magic - hope you manage to get your hands on a copy!! Library?! Where is your calendar from in your picture btw - it's so pretty! Miranda xxx http://mirandasnotebook.com/

    1. Hey Miranda - thanks for your comment! Yes, a library is where I should head... but as I live in Oxford, I'm super intimidated by our local library. Pathetic, I know! I'll get a membership card soon... It's a Rifle Paper Co planner - I got it from Kate's lovely stationery shop, Nouvelle Daily - sadly I don't think she stocks it anymore. It's on offer at RPC though!: https://riflepaperco.com/shop/calendars/2016-coffee-and-tea-kitchen-wall-calendar/ T xx
